EDITING.

  • Developmental Editing

This part of editing is about the content's big picture. It focuses less on micro issues and more on the macro. Plot, continuity, character development, organization, and pacing are among the components looked at.

  • Line Editing

While often confused with proofreading, line editing is a different part of the editorial process. It focuses on the overall flow of the sentences, such as syntax, word choice, and rhythm.

  • Proofreading

Proofreading is usually the final step of the editorial process. It examines the grammar, punctuation, and spelling of a text. Essentially, proofing is the last call clean-up that is preferred for long works like novels.
